The Marantz PM6007 and CD6007 replaces the ever popular Marantz PM6006UKSE and CD6006UKSE. Designed around the same chassis with a familiar Marantz look, the new Amp and CD are both improvements over the outgoing versions. Which is quite incredible at this price as the 6006UKSE was some of the best value entry level electronics on the market.
The PM6007 benefits from the reference level AK4490 DAC chipset, taking your digital content to the next level. 45wpc of refined and extensively tuned power making it capable of clean room filling sound. However, not everyone can listen at high volumes, so the amp circuitry improvements help it sound fuller at a lower volume.
An improved MM Phono stage helps get the most out of your Vinyl playback and with 2 digital filters, you can tune the Optical and Coax Digital inputs to your liking.
The CD6007 looks less different on paper, but the small improvements add up to a CD player that outperforms the CD6006UKSE with ease. Again, employing the AK4490 DAC Chip with customizable filters, the detail and soundstage is improved. A capable Headphone amplifier means you can connect your Headphones directly to the source and enjoy better personal listening. The USB socket on the front is capable of playback from WAV, MP3, AAC, WMA, FLAC HD, ALAC, AIFF and DSD files.
It goes without saying that both units benefit from Marantz's solid build quailty as well as carefully chosen audio components designed to squeeze maximum performance for their price points.
Once again, Marantz have the upgrade choice easy. If you are looking to spend less than £500 on an amp or CD player, you won't get anything better than the PM6007 or CD6007.
