Not many album covers credit the author on the cover itself. On the other hand, not many albums get to have their covers designed by Andy Warhol, the king of Pop-Art.
It was actually Andy’s idea to include a new lead singer in the band: the german actress/model/singer Nico. The band’s reluctance in accepting their mentor’s suggestion is evident in the name of the album.
In the first editions, the banana was actually a removable sticker that the owner was invited to peel, revealing a pink, flesh-like banana underneath. “Peel slowly and see,” said the invitation.
